Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría Chile has counselled The Bank of Nova Scotia, as administrative agent, global coordinator and global green coordinator; The Bank of Nova Scotia, BOFA Securities, and BBVA NY Branch, as lenders, in connection with a USD $200,000,000 green financing for COPEC.
The funds will be used to finance new energy and electromobility projects, and to enhance the portfolio of new businesses related to the energy transition.
This transaction closed on 24 November, with Shearman & Sterling and Simpson Thacher acting as New York counsel to the lenders and the borrower, respectively.
The loan, which was led by Scotiabank together with BBVA and BofA, was analysed under the Green Loan Principles and certified by Valora Consultores, validating the environmental and social sustainability of Copec’s projects.
