Mexican private equity investor MxO Capital has hired local firm Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez SC and three Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría offices to acquire a majority stake in Latin American education technology company AMCO.
Latin Lawyer understands that international firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP also acted for MxO, while Greenberg Traurig LLP assisted AMCO but could not confirm this before publishing.
The deal closed on 1 July for a confidential amount. The size of the stake is also undisclosed.
Through the deal, MxO Capital secured control of AMCO, a provider of educational content, curricula and school management technology used by approximately 500,000 students across 12 Latin American countries, as well as its digital platform, which offers school administration and digital management solutions.
