Familiar firms return for Peruvian warehouse refinancing

Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (Peru) has helped local warehouse company Megacentro Lurín obtain a US$95 million loan to refinance existing debt.

Garrigues (Peru) was instructed by the lender, BTG Pactual.

The transaction closed on 28 December.

With the loan, Megacentro refinanced and amended the terms of an existing US$100 million loan which it obtained in June 2021. A trust agreement was also negotiated as part of the refinancing deal.

Megacentro will use the proceeds from the refinancing to manage its liabilities, as well as fund investments and the development of new projects.

PPU and Garrigues helped Megacentro secure another credit facility worth US$19 million in August 2021, which was used for debt refinancing purposes.

Established in 1995, Megacentro is the Peruvian subsidiary of Chilean real estate company Red Megacentro. The conglomerate specialises in the leasing and management of distribution centres, warehouses, commercial buildings and office spaces across Chile, Peru and the US. To date, it has over 60 properties in its portfolio.
