Colombia’s Intertug obtains multijurisdictional loan

Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCoy LLP in New York has acted as lead counsel to Colombian marine industry company Intertug in a syndicated loan worth US$42 million.

Intertug also relied on Gómez Ariza Cabrales Abogados and Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría in Bogotá; Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán in Panama City and Veirano Abvogados in São Paulo. Miranda & Estavillo, SC in Mexico City is also thought to have advised the borrower, but Latin Lawyer could not confirm this prior to publication.

Paul Hastings LLP in New York acted as lead counsel to the lenders, Credit Suisse, Metrobank and Davivienda. They also relied on Clarke Gittens & Farmer in Barbados; Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enriquez SC in Mexico City; De Castro & Robles in Panama City and Gómez-Pinzón in Bogotá. Machado Meyer Advogados in São Paulo is also thought to have advised the banks, but this could not be confirmed before publication.

The transaction closed on 30 November.

The loan involved several co-borrowers, which are all affiliated to Intertug and operate in Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Peru.

Intertug is a leading marine vessel support provider in Latin America and is part of Colombian business group Grupo Transportadora.
