Marval O’Farrell Mairal in Buenos Aires, three Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría offices, Galicia Abogados in Mexico City and Uruguay’s Posadas have helped Toyota invest in Argentine logistics technology company Moova.

It is understood that US firm Fenwick & West LLP also advised Toyota, whilst the target relied on Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in the US and Chilean firm DNPV Abogados, but Latin Lawyer could not confirm this before publishing.

The deal closed on 28 June.

Toyota invested US$3 million in Moova as part of its US$5 million funding round. Other investors in the financing round included Alaya Capital and Galicia Ventures.

Moova will use the newly raised funds to enhance its technology and market reach.

Founded in 2018, Moova handles one million shipments every month across Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. The company has also partnered with Argentine e-commerce giant MercadoLibre to provide services in six Latin American countries. Moova’s clients include household names Nestlé, Samsung and Puma.

Japanese carmaker Toyota has a presence in over 170 countries worldwide and manufactures cars in Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela in Latin America.
