Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría Colombia has acted as advisor to Oleoducto de los Llanos Orientales in the assignment of Firm Energy Obligations of several power generation plants to Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM).
The transaction, which took place on 1 December 2023, also included the withdrawal of the Termojaguey and Termorubiales generation units from the wholesale electricity market.
The advice involved support throughout the assignment process, from the beginning to the award, as well as the negotiation of different contracts; regulatory advice before governmental authorities UPME, CREG and XM; and assistance with governmental requirements and negotiation of contracts with EPM.
Oleoducto de los Llanos Orientales is one of the largest crude oil transporters in Colombia.
The PPU team was led by partner Sandra Manrique, with support from associates Juan Pablo Gutiérrez and Alejandro Zapata.
